About Bill Latimer - History of the WRSP Program and making of Map

I started Worcester County Search & Rescue Team (WCSART) back in 2001, Incorporated in the Sate of Massachusetts in 2003, and formed the Lake Quinsigamond Water Rescue Patrol in 2004. This was the 'first' of its kind of an all volunteer water rescue service in the world. The WRSP Program was sanctioned by the Town of Shrewsbury MA, the LQC (Lake Quinsigamond Commission) and the LQWA (Lake Quinsigamond Watershed Association) with support from the Shrewsbury, Worcester, Environmental Police, DCR, the Worcester Marine Corps League detachment 144, Shrewsbury Parks & Recreation Department, Regatta Point Sailing Club, and the Stoddard Army Reserve Center where our HQ was at. We operated on Lake Quinsigamond from 2004 to 2012 patrolling the Lake every summer from Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day weekend. During our tenure we towed over 600 Vessels, numerous Boating assists, and general assistance out on the Lake and Corrizzini public boat ramp.  Our thanks to the many Home owners out on the Lake and boating individuals over the years that assisted and supported our WRSP Program out on Lake Quinsigamond.

In 2006, with the approval of the LQC, our organization was commissioned to make a Map of Lake Quinsigamond. I got with CR Environmental to do a sounding on the entire Lake to produce an accurate depth Map of the Lake. WCSAR Team Incorporated, myself, then took the data and designed 2 styles of Map which is used today and sold on this site.

Due to my retiring, and moving to my summer home in Amelia Island, FL in October 2012, our WRSP (Water Rescue Safety Patrol) program was discontinued; however, the Maps we designed for Lake Quinsigamond can still be obtained. These Maps are the only 'official' Maps of Lake Quinsigamond in over 60 years and can only be purchased through this Web Site. Please go through the menu icons for ordering information process and the style Maps available. These are hi-quality Maps and worth the purchase and are updated every two years with Landmark information. Map area covers all of Lake Quinsigamond and Flint Pond to the south.

I am a current member of the LQWA (Lake Quinsigamond Watershed Association) and keep current with Lake activities or changes.

I am also a Coast Guard Vet and active member of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary & U.S. Power Squadron and support their missions in boating safety and education.
